Mitchell Park, Durban

In the middle of one of Durban's prime residential areas lies Mitchell Park with its tall shady trees, beautiful flower beds and well-stocked animal enclosure. Can you believe that 100 years ago this area was an Ostrich farm? Mitchell Park is a popular picnic area, especially on weekends. There is ample space for the kids to play including a childrens play area. For a small charge one may view the large variety of birds, mammals and reptiles in the aviaries and enclosures of the Mitchell Park aviaries. The park is also home to the Blue Zoo restaurant which is a pleasant place to have a meal.
